ZACH SCOTTZach Scott, born in Aurora, Colorado, is a Junior attending Grandview High School. He works in ink, graphite, graphic design, charcoal, pastel, acrylic and watercolor paints, but his true passion is film. A dream became a plan when Zach started his film studio, Renegade Films. Zach believes that, despite the
breakneck pace of today's society, there is always room for a good story. ARTIST STATEMENT: I believe that storytelling is an integral part of our society. Often ignored as a distraction, stories allow us to challenge, explore, and wonder about the world around us. From the tribal campfire to the silver screen, we have sought to capture our imaginations and show them to the world, creating a feedback loop of inspiration. I was caught in this loop when I was young and now attempt to contribute to this wonderful cycle.
Film has started to stagnate. Too many directors have sacrificed creativity to meet a corporate bottom line. In a world of template filmmaking, I aim to be a breath of fresh air, exploring new stories, ideas, and methods to bring storytelling back to its core -- wonder. By founding Renegade Films, I ensure that I am beholden to no one but the stories I tell, running against the grain, in the direction films were meant to move. My plan for the future is the same as always: Grow. Whether by expanding my team to include dedicated editors and cameramen, deepening my understanding of the medium by creating more videos, or pushing visual storytelling by experimenting with virtual reality, I am determined look back in a year and smile, knowing I am not the same filmmaker I was 365 days ago. The only constant is change, and I plan on making it positive. |
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it. |
